Another excellent resource announced at the National Genealogical Society conference in Raleigh is the North Carolina Family Records Online resource, a project of the North Carolina State Library and Archives.

This collaborative project includes full-text searching of over 200 family bibles, 6 volumes of family death notices, photographs, and letters. While the vast majority of records come from wealthy European American Protestant families, some family collections include slave records, which are of great interest to those researching their African heritage.

Here are some great features of the NC Family Records Online site:

  • Users can add tags and comment on records
  • Browse by location feature
  • Image and full-text view

This and many more excellent online resources are on our Delicious page!
