We are proud to announce that the North Carolina Room is the recipient of multiple grant funds for the preservation of our collections!
The Forsyth County Genealogical Society has awarded the North Carolina Room over $1600 to purchase books, archival supplies, and bookbinding supplies. These funds will help our collection grow during this time of budgetary constraints, assist with our book repair efforts, and allow us to properly archive our genealogical special collections and manuscripts.
The Wachovia Historical Society has donated funds for the purchase of archival photograph sleeves for the Photograph Collection, which is incredibly useful to Molly, our Photograph Librarian. These funds will help keep the collection archivally sound.
Last but certainly not least, the North Carolina Preservation Consortium has awarded the North Carolina Room $2000 for the construction of a locking cage for our new facility downstairs at Central Library. This secure, locking cage is the first step in our preservation plan to help make our materials available for research. Audra will be the project manager for the grant.
Our relocation has been delayed until later this year but we will continue to work with our collections in preparation for our larger facility downstairs. Thank you to FCGS, WHS, and NCPC for your support!
