Scribd is a great website where you can publish family history documents and research — for free! Scan historic documents such as funeral booklets, wills, and handwritten research — or finally publish that family history you’ve been working on.

You can publish documents in many formats, including PDF, Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, etc), and Plain Text (.txt). Readers can download files or share them on Facebook, Twitter, and more — and also embed the files on blogs and websites!

You can read and search Scribd for free, but to download or share documents, you will need to create a user ID. You can create “private” documents to share with a select few, or you can even sell your own writing to the public! This post on the Family Matters blog explores some more possibilities of publishing family history on Scribd.
