Forsyth County Genealogical Society

will meet Tuesday, November 5, 2013, 6:30 PM, at Forsyth County Public Library – Central (Auditorium), 660 West 5th St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101.

  Social at 6:30, program at 7:00.  The meeting is free and open to the public.

Beverly Repass Hoch will speak on “18th century German Immigration”.  Ms. Hoch is a certified genealogist since 1983, teacher, lecturer, writer and publisher. She is the author of a half-dozen books on Pennsylvania fraktur (birth and baptismal certificates), about 35 books and 65 articles mostly on southwest Virginia Germans, marriage records, church records, and Civil War pensions. She settled with her husband in Wytheville, Va., after his retirement. Ms. Hoch is an eight-generation in Wythe Co., her ancestors being some of the first Germans in the area. Her new book, “The Genealogist’s Guide to Fraktur for Genealogists Researching Families of German Heritage” will be available for purchase at the meeting.  Free and open to the public.
