A few weeks back I posted some information about C.C. Goforth and his fellow Winston-Salem Police Department motorcycle officers in the 1920s.

Today, while doing some research on the Forsyth County sheriff’s office from around the same period, I found this old Bill East “Do You Remember” column showing the sheriff’s two wheeler brigade around 1927-28. Click for full size.

The position of the oil tanks, part of the brand new throttle-controlled oiling system, identifies these machines as 1928 Harley-Davidson police models.
