Forsyth County Genealogical Society

The Society will meet July 1, 2014 at the Forsyth County Public Library –Central (auditorium), 660 West 5th Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101. Social at 6:30 p.m. and program at 7:00. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Charter member Darla Johnson will present the program – “Planning a Family Reunion” – tips on organizing a family gathering and utilizing resources for the event.
Darla is a Forsyth County native, graduating from West Forsyth High School. She has a bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University and a master’s degree from UNC-Greensboro. She worked for many years as a Children’s Librarian at the Forsyth County Public Library and currently is a nature educator at Tanglewood Park. Along the way she worked on her family genealogy and co-authored a book, “Images of America: Lewisville.

A new item has been added to the program agenda: Member News. Members may notify the editor of deaths of family members. The news will be announced at the following meeting and be added to the minutes.

Request from the editor: Material is needed for publication in our Journal. Any genealogically relevant thing is welcome: recent research, wills, deeds, obituaries, family history, old photos, etc. Digital format is preferable, but hard copies can be used.
