Sketchbook Legacy – a project in collaboration with Art of Art’s Sake, began at Meadowlark Middle School in Mrs. Miller’s art room. The spring project asked her 8th graders to complete a sketchbook or altered book. Some books are based on songs.
Some hold sketches, doodles, painting, art, and photos from the year.
Each was handcrafted by a student artist; each holds memories, growth, and reflections.
Now these books live at the library’s North Carolina Collection. Where one day soon you will be able to hold, enjoy, & be inspired by them. “This was the year that began normal, and finished online, all affected by Covid-19. Apart, but together.” ( Mrs. Miller 2020)
Originally – back before Covid-19, we had planned to display these sketchbooks for everyone to enjoy in person. Life has a funny way of changing plans. So we go with plan B – a virtual display of the work of a group of talented local artists in the making.
